some VERY interesting quotes…

Here are some very interesting quotes which I came across and found suited my topic of digital storytelling, as well as technology itself. It really shows the times we are now living in, and how dependent we have become with technology.

“If people aren’t taught the language of sound and images, shouldn’t they be considered as illiterate as if they left college without being able to read or write?”

- George Lucas

“It seems to me that at some point, multimedia expression is going to be like writing: it’s something you don’t leave college without. Kids are very sophisticated in navigating on computers and surfing the internet. I think pretty soon they’re going to have to be as sophisticated in expressing themselves using the media.”

- Dr. Mark Kann
Chair, USC Political Science Department

“Learning is a metaphor for growing up”

I believe Dan’s concept for a Metaphor for Learning Movie was cleverly done. I enjoyed his use of visual aids during the well thought about commentary.

I agree with his statement that “knowledge is like food for growing tadpoles; it helps feed their brains and minds and helps tem grow as people”

His final statement was left an interesting thought that “Many kinds of frogs can have the same knowledge and same skills but apply it differently to their lives” Which I believe is a great idea to apply to education. A student will finish their university degree of primary education with all of their peers who have studied for the same amount of years, and many have studied the same subjects. However those students will all use their knowledge in different ways. Not all will go straight to the classroom.
